Mountain Biking around Blaengwynfi

The Afan Forest is currently the fastest growing Mountain Biking area in the UK. There are two dedicated mountain biking centres within the local area, which is also known as Little Switzerland.

Blaengwynfi is on the low level trail leading to the Glyncorrwg and Afan Argoed Mountain Biking Centres. The trails have been carved out of hillsides once scarred by mining. Now the valley has been transformed into single track heaven by the Forestry Commission in partnership with Neath Port Talbot County Council, Visit Wales and local community group Glyncorrwg Ponds Co-operative.

Afan Forest Park is home to five world class trails: the ‘Penhydd’, ‘Y Wal’, ‘Skyline’, ‘White’s Level’ and 'W2'

Afan Forest Park was the only UK trail destination to feature in the ‘What Mountain Bike Magazine’ as one of the ten best places to ride “before you die”.

In 2008 it was also voted one of the top ten public forests in the UK by the Sunday Telegraph.
